The Nadi Weather Office said a tropical depression has formed and is alongside an active trough of low pressure over North West of the Fiji group.
Senior Forcaster, Robin Taniela said as a result, people are to expect heavy rain and strong winds tonight going into tomorrow morning and just keep listening to weather updates.
A strong wind warning is now in place for the whole country.
Meanwhile, the DISMAC office has also issued a public advisory specifically to Mariners.
Acting Director, Pajiliai Dobui said fisherman and small boat users are advised to take heed of the strong wind warning and avoid travelling on rough seas that can cause loss of lives.
