A weather system that is developing near Solomon Islands is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds from today into the Fiji Group.
The Nadi Weather Office said the Tropical Disturbance which is currently 1300km North West of Fiji is expected to develop into a tropical cyclone later today however it does not pose a direct threat to the country at this stage.
The Weather Office is currently monitoring the weather system.
After assessments conducted by the office, it has been stressed that the potential for formation of tropical cyclone from the disturbance is high.
