The Nadi Weather office has issued a Tropical cyclone Alert which means that the whole of Fiji will receive strong winds and continuous rain.
Nadi weather office director, Rajendra Prasad is now calling on the public to take precautionary measures now as the Tropical Depression has developed thus the issuing of the Tropical cyclone alert.
Prasad also said that this is the time for the public to take precautionary measures as the System can develop suddenly.
In their Alert issued this hour, the Nadi Weather said that the system may bring damaging gales force winds over Fiji in the next 24-30 hours.
There is also a threat of heavy rainfall and squally thunderstorms with sea flooding of low coastal areas.
Fijivillage has spoken to the Nadi Weather Office and the Alert does not mean that this is a cyclone warning at this stage.
The Alert issued is based on a forecast that the current system, which is a tropical depression, is gaining momentum resulting in heavy rain and strong wind.
