A tropical gale warning remains in force for Rotuma as Tropical Cyclone Daman approaches the island from the North.

The Nadi Weather Office confirms that Tropical Cyclone Daman LIES 50 KILOMETERS TO THE EAST OF Rotuma and is expected to pass over or close to the island within the next 6 hours.

Tropical Cyclone Daman is expected to curve South within the next 24 hours and head towards Fiji.

Tropical Cyclone Daman has winds averaging from 65 to 75 kilometers an hour with momentary gusts of 100 km/ hr and will bring damaging gale force winds close to the center.

The weather Office warns of flash flooding in low lying areas around the country as Tropical Cyclone Daman nears the Fiji group over the next 24 to 48 hours.

Mariners are advised to refrain from going out to sea as very rough seas and damaging swells are expected.
