Tropical Cyclone Winston continues to move away from the Fiji group.
Hurricane force winds have died out in a number of areas and the worst is over for the main islands of the Fiji group.
The centre of Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston is currently located West of Viwa island in the Yasawas.
At 4am TC Winston which is a category 5 system was located about 130km West Southwest of Viwa or about 180km West‑Northwest of Nadi.
On this track the cyclone is expected to be located about 230km West‑Southwest of Viwa or about 280km West of Nadi at 3pm today.
The system is heading in a westerly direction at about 25 to 30 kilometres per hour.
People need to be alert as we may have flooding in some areas.
National Disaster Management Office Director Akapusi Tuifagalele says that they are aware of the destruction around the country but are not able to send help yet.
Tuifagalele says they will start helping the people of Fiji once the sun rises and once they get information from the different commissioners for the different divisions.
He is advising the public to restrict their movement and stay indoors as the curfew is still in place for the whole of Fiji.
For safety reasons, the public have been advised to restrain from movement as there are fallen trees that needs to cleared and power lines to be restored.
Meanwhile, residents from the Coral Coast says that most parts of the highway are blocked as a lot of trees and coconut trees are lying on the road.
