The Nadi Weather Office confirms that a tropical depression located west of Vanuatu is expected to develop and transform into a Tropical Cyclone by early tomorrow.

Director Rajendra Prasad confirms that the system is anticipated to move eastwards initially but curve south-east as it nears Fiji.

He said it’s rather early to elaborate on its full effects but the system should bring in strong winds and heavy rain to the western and southern parts of Fiji from Friday.

Meanwhile, a flash flood warning is still in place for Vanua Levu, Taveuni, nearby islands, Lau, Lomaiviti and Koro groups. The trough of low pressure is expected to move south and affect Viti Levu from tomorrow causing flash flooding in the low lying areas.
