The sudden power blackout that occurred at around 7pm last night throughout the whole of the Central Division was due to the tripping of one of the main supply lines.

According to the Fiji Electricity Authority Customer Care, the main line from Wailoa in Monasavu that supplies power to the Cunningham power station tripped last night.

They add that there was a fault along the line and as a result, the Wailoa Station switched off as a safety measure until the fault was fixed.
