The President has appointed the tribunal and the counsel to the tribunal to investigate allegations of misbehavior against the suspended Chief Justice Daniel Fatiaki.

At a press conference yesterday, Interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum said the names of the members will be made public as soon as the hearing date for the tribunal is set by the chairman.

Sayed Khaiyum said while there are some groups who have been trying to derail the process in the name of independence of the Judiciary, independence is more likely to be preserved if the tribunal is allowed to carry out its work.

Fatiaki's lawyer, John Apted, confirmed earlier that he has been instructed by his client to file legal proceedings against the tribunal as soon as the names of the members are announced.
