Trial date set for Post Fiji saga
The three have been charged with two counts of abuse of office, one count of extortion, one count of aiding and abetting abuse of office and one count of false certificate by public office. The trial date has been set for the 10th and 11th of December.
It is alleged that Mau approved the payment of $75,000 for purchase of an external Seiko Clock for Post Fiji building, without following proper tender procedures, while Patel allowed the purchase of the clock from Prouds, a company which is owned by Patel. FICAC had charged them both with Abuse of office and conspiracy to defraud, and for this matter the trial date has been set for 23rd and 24th November.
FICAC had also charged Mau and the former General Manager Marketing and New Business Vinesh Kumar with conspiracy to defraud, abuse of office and extortion, and it is alleged that the two conspired and processed a bonus payment to Kumar. For this matter the trial date has been for 21st to 22nd December for hearing.
