The South African 7s coach Paul Treu may not include any of the Super 14 players from the five franchises when he announces his training squad to prepare for the Rugby World Cup 7s tournament next month.

Treu said the Super 14 and former stars like Stefan Basson and Schalk van der Merwe have shown interest but there will not be enough time to mould them with the present squad.

He said the present team, plus players returning from injury like Neil Powell, Marius Schoeman and Mzwandile Stick obviously have their noses in front, but if he need other players than they will come from the training squad.

The 12-member South African team will be finalized during next week, but Treu who coached South Africa to win the Dubai and George 7s tournaments this season, needs to know what he has available as the team starts preparing for the big prize.

South Africa has been drawn in Pool C at the 7s World Cup with Japan, Canada and Scotland.
