The Request Forms for the much awaited school transport assistance scheme are finally out.

However, only those students from families whose total household income is $15,000 or less will be eligible for the transport assistance.

The Ministry of Education is calling on school heads, both Primary and Secondary around the Nausori and Suva areas to collect forms from the respective District Education Offices today while the Western and Northern school heads are to collect their forms tomorrow.

The Ministry is also urging parents and students to collect the application forms and complete it before returning them to their school on enrolment day for endorsement by the Head Teacher or Principal.

Meanwhile, special consideration will be given to those families above the $15,000 threshold provided good reasons are given for the hardship they face.

Their application will have to be assessed by the Department of Social Welfare which is to be considered by the Permanent Secretary of Education.
