The Ministry of Transport is tightlipped on the findings of an internal audit conducted into the operations and revenue measures of the Land Transport Authority, which has seen the CEO Etuate Koroi sent on leave pending investigations.

Transport Ministry Spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete confirmed that Koroi has been sent on leave to ensure transparency in the verification process.

Waqainabete said an independent body will be brought in to carry out the verification process into the audit findings and until such time the finds are clarified, Koroi will remain on leave.

However, she said the Ministry cannot divulge the details of the findings at this stage.

It has been confirmed that the audit, which was ordered by the Transport Ministry into the entire operations of the LTA included the Road Tax collection, the Licensing Fees for all transports and LTA’s other revenue measures and the utilization of these funds.
