In light of the two tragic bus incidents last year in Malaqereqere, Sigatoka and the Nausori Highlands in Nadi, which claimed the lives of 16 lives in total, the Transport Ministry is not taking any chances this year.
Spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete said their 6 month checks and the constant monitoring of safety bus measures have begun.
Waqainabete added so far 34 buses have been taken off the road to improve their conditions while 27 buses have been given time to comply with the LTA and Ministry regulations already in place.
