A traditional Fijian ceremony will be accorded to the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, Sir Michael Somare by the Vanua of Lau when he launches the biography of Fiji's late founding father, Turaga Tui Nayau Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara today.

Fijian Trust Fund Chief Executive and joint publisher of the biography Isoa Kaloumaira said similar rituals were staged for Sir Michael when he visited Ratu Mara's home in Lakeba, approximately 35 years ago.

Also scheduled today at the invitation of Sir Michael are the Solomon Islands Premier Dr Derek Sikua and Vanuatu PM Edward Natapei.

The biography is written and researched by historian Dr Deryck Scarr and is the first substantial account of Ratu Mara's life and career since his death 5 years ago.

The event will be held at Studio 6, in Suva at 9.30am today.
