Trade Unions may put forward more demands before the interim government if the economic situation of the country continues to affect the livelihoods of its members.
Fiji Public Service Association Industrial Advisor, Nirbhay Singh said many of their members are living below the poverty line and are coping with it. He said if the agreement signed earlier this week is not effective than they will have to ask for more.
He was reacting to views from the panelists at the Fiji Media Council Public Forum held last night in Suva.
Chairman of the Association of Banks in Fiji, Laurie Mellsop highlighted that things are expected to worsen in the months ahead as the situation is not improving fast enough.
However, the Permanent Secretary for Finance Peceli Vocea highlighted that policies put in place are slowly turning the economy around.
