In these trying times, saving a dollar a day and making personal sacrifices is helping change the lives of the women of the Tovata Womens club.
Club member Nanise Vuanicau said they make and sell mats, cakes and other items and put aside a dollar each day to improve their standard of living.
The Tovata club was one of the recipients of the 200 sewing machines donated by the Indian High Commission today and Vuanicau said this will further assist them save money as they will start sewing their own school uniforms for their children.
Meanwhile, Indian High Commissioner to Fiji Prabhakar Jha while handing over the 200 sewing machines said this would provide a dignified source of income of these families and many others.
