More tourists are going to Vanuatu instead of Fiji.
This is according to the Asian Development Bank chief Pacific economist Craig Sugden at the launch of the ADB's quarterly Pacific Economic Monitor in Sydney yesterday.
Sugden highlighted that remittances are also down in the Pacific nations.
Sugden also told the ABC that the January floods have had a more severe impact on Fiji than they earlier thought.
Meanwhile, Tourism Fiji chairman Patrick Wong earlier said despite a decline in tourism figures by 24.4% in January and February, June is usually the peak period and they are anticipating the numbers to increase significantly.
Wong said they expect an increase of 50% from now till October.
