Tourist arrivals in the country has decreased by 30,400 when compared to last year in the first three months.

The Bureau of Statistics record shows that visitor arrivals for January this year was 32,985 which represents a decrease of 27% when compared to last year while 31,286 visitors came to Fiji in February this year which is a decrease of 20%.

The month of March saw 36,060 visitors coming to Fiji this year, a decrease of 22.3% when compared to 2008.

Significant decreases were recorded for visitors from Australia, United Kingdom and America for these months while fewer tourists also came from New Zealand, Canada, South Korea and other Pacific island countries.

According to the Bureau of Stats records, increases for the three months were recorded from the rest of Asia and the Continental Europe.

A total of 100,331 tourists arrived in Fiji in the first three month this year compared to 130,762 last year, which is a difference of 30,431.
