Fiji's tourism industry is still struggling and various stakeholders are trying their best to market Fiji overseas.

According to the Bureau of Statistics, visitor arrivals for March 2009 totalled 36,060 a decrease of 22.3% over the same period in 2008.

Decreases were recorded for visitors from Australia recording significant decreases from 19,296 last year to 14,462 this year while US recorded 6,195 last year which decreased to 3,597.

Government Statistician Timoci Bainimarama said other decreases were recorded for visitors from New Zealand, Canada and the UK.

He said increases were recorded for vistors from Taiwan and Continental Europe.
