Tourism industry icon passes away
Dan Costello Senior has passed away following a long illness.
Costello Senior was best known for his contribution to the tourism industry, the establishment of Beachcomber Island, then known as Tai Island, Beachcomber Cruisers and Fiji Meats, the Fiji Island Visitors Bureau and a parliamentarian in the Alliance Government.
Fiji Hoteliers Association President Dixon Seeto said Costello Senior has contributed alot to the Tourism Industry, an industry which he helped mould into what it has become today.
Tourism Fiji Chairman Patrick Wong said Costello Senior was a man of all seasons.
According to a travel monthly online publication Costello Senior loved to fish, go diving and to party at Beachcomber with friends.
The article quotes Costello Senior's beach parties became so famous that there was soon a waiting list of people who wanted to go to Beachcomber Island at any price.
