While the year has been challenging, tourism has picked up in Fiji and will continue to do so.
These were the words of Tourism Fiji Chairman Patrick Wong who said the marketing of Fiji overseas is going according to plan and there is a positive outlook for next year.
According to a Reserve Bank of Fiji Economic Review, airline capacity will increase next month with the commencement of Air Pacific's Nadi-Hong Kong service and Continental Micronesia's Honolulu service via Guam.
The Review said in addition, V-Australia will replace its sister Virgin Blue group airline, Pacific Blue, on the Sydney-Nadi route with more modern jets and increase capacity.
It said the increase in inbound capacity is expected to support the recovery of the tourism industry further adding however visitor arrivals cumulative to August fell by 13 percent over the year.
