Pacific Tourism Ministers have converged in Honiara, Solomon Islands to discuss ways to tackle the challenges faced by the tourism industries in the region.

The Attorney General and Minister for Tourism Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is leading Fiji's delegation to the meeting which is also being attended by Tourism Ministers from Australia, New Zealand and China.

Top on the agenda of the meeting is how Pacific island states can counter the down turn in the travel industry due to the global financial crisis and how the industries can recover in light of natural disasters and economic conditions and how each nation can attract more visitors to their shores.

Tourism is the life line of many Pacific island states including Fiji, which is now our largest foreign exchange earner.
