Despite everything that has happened after December 5th, 2006, the tourism industry has managed to survive and to survive well.
These are the sentiments of Interim Tourism Minister, Bernadette Rounds Ganilau who adds that the tourism industry workers and stakeholders need to be commended for a job well done.
Meanwhile, the Fiji Visitors Bureau is revising its marketing plans for next year, as they received less money for this purpose in the 2008 National Budget.
Board Chairman Patrick Wong had earlier said that they had requested over $20 million for operations and marketing however they received 12 million dollars which will hinder marketing for Fiji but added that they would be making a request to the Finance Ministry in early 2008 for more funds for marketing purposes.
