The Tourism Industry has set a new record despite the slowdown in economic activities in the country.

The chairman of the Fiji Visitors Bureau Patrick Wong said they have recorded a total of 270,856 visitors in Fiji in June this year.

He said the provisional figures for the first quarter this year stood at 131,756 with heavy discounted packages selling at price point.

Wong said the provisional arrival figures for the first half of this year is 262,256 meaning the tourism industry is at peak.

He said there is no doubt that the country's tourism industry will continue to experience growth provided efficiency and effectiveness of services is being consistently provided to enhance its long term stability.
