With Japan being the only country to record an increase in visitor arrivals, Tourism Fiji will now try to attract more tourists from the Asia region.

Statistics given by Tourism Fiji show that there was a 0.5% increase in tourist numbers from Japan for the first two months of 2009 compared to the same period last year, whereas it was a different story for Fiji's main tourist market sources Australia and New Zealand, where there was a reduction of 27.8% and 30.9% respectively.

Tourism Fiji Chairman Patrick Wong said they are now also focusing their attention on China.
