Tourism Fiji chairman is hoping they will be able to recover from the drop in tourist arrivals within the next few months.
Patrick Wong said despite a decline in tourism figures by 24.4% in January and February, June is usually the peak period and they are anticipating the numbers to increase significantly.
Wong said they expect an increase of 50% from now till October.
Statistics given by Tourism Fiji show that there was a 0.5% increase in tourist numbers from Japan for the first two months of 2009, compared to the same period last year, whereas it was a different story for Fiji's main tourist market source Australia and New Zealand, where there was a reduction of 27.8% and 30.9% respectively.
