The interim Tourism Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum stressed on the importance of the Tourism Industry to the participants of the ANZ Tourism Forum 2008 today at Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa, saying that it's an integral part of Fiji's economy.

Sayed-Khaiyum said the interim government is committed to the reformation of policies in all sectors to create a positive impact and the need to expand the tourism market to other countries like Singapore.

Sharing similar sentiments was the Chairman of the Natadola Bay Resort Ltd Felix Anthony who said the tourism industry had a lot to offer the nation in terms of economic benefits and jobs.

Anthony while addressing the Forum reiterated that he believes Fiji's economic future and well being lies in the tourism industry, especially with the drop in sugar cane production which sees the sugar industry which was once Fiji's biggest earner dropping dramatically over the past couple of years.
