Marist Brothers High School has taken the lead in the medal tally of the Suva Zone 2 school athletics meet as they look to reclaim the Suva Zone 2 Title.

The Boys from Flagstaff have so far bagged a total of 4 Gold, 5 Silver and 1 bronze to lead the Fijivillage medal tally.

The two Gold medals came from the 1,500 Junior Boys finals while the three other medals came from the field events in the Intermediate Boys javelin, the senior boys Shot-put and the junior boy’s high jump.

Suva Grammar School, Waidina Secondary and Latianara High School are in second place with 1 Gold and 1 silver each.

Looking at the Girls Division, the Fijivillage Medal tally remains unchanged as Lomary Secondary lead with 2 gold medals from the 100 metres final in the sub junior and intermediate girls, while  

Waidina Secondary is in second place with 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze and Suva Grammar in third place with 1 Gold and 2 bronze.

Later this afternoon, the main event would be the blue ribbon event where there will be tough competition in the boy’s senior event with sprinters like Marist Brothers Banuve Tabakaucoro and Suva Grammar's Mataiasi Savou.

Our reporter at the TFL Stadium, Irfaan Khan said while making his first appearance in the senior division, Tabakaucoro clocked a time of 10.84 seconds while Suva Grammar=s Mataiasi Savou clocked a time of 11 seconds to qualify for the finals.
