Tough to win at home-NZ 7s
The big question rugby pundits are asking is whether host New Zealand will be able to repeat their winning performance from Dubai and George, at home this weekend.
On paper they are the favourites as they have won at home a record 5 times since the tournament started in 1999.
Fiji and Australia have 2 wins each while defending champion England, Samoa and South Africa had a win each under their name.
For the record, Fiji won the first NZ 7s in 1999.
When Wellington hosts the 12th New Zealand 7's tomorrow and Saturday, Gordon Tietjens will be hoping to win back the title they relinquished in the dying seconds of the final last year against England, and further propel themselves towards a 9th IRB 7's series title.
Tietjens said the toughest assignment for any team in the IRB 7s circuit is to win their own tournament.
South Africa's World Series winning coach Paul Treau looks to New Zealand for inspiration but at the same time prepares to take them on at the end of the first day.
For the Digicel Fiji 7's coach the memories of losing in the 1/4 finals to England in his opening assignment last year is still fresh in his mind and Iliesa Tanivula is looking forward to this weekend to win his first tournament this season.
The 2010 New Zealand 7s kicks-off at 1pm tomorrow with Samoa taking on France.
Fiji plays Scotland at 2.28pm in their opening pool game tomorrow.
