New Zealand Sevens coach Gordon Tietjens will have a selection headache following last weekend's Gold Coast International Sevens at Surfers Paradise.

Tietjens side, featuring the likes of Commonwealth Games gold medal winner Toby Arnold and long time stalwart Zar Lawrence, was beaten by the Olex Taranaki Academy 31-26 in an all New Zealand final.

Taranaki led by experienced Super 15 campaigner Scott Waldrom proved too good for Tietjens NZRU combination and will make selection even harder for him in Dubai and South Africa.

New Zealand is in the pool B with Argentina, USA and Zimbabwe while Fiji meet up with England, Portugal and France.

The Dubai 7s will be held on the 4th and 5th of December.
