The Digicel Fiji 7's team will face a tough road in trying to end their 11 years losing streak in the opening leg of the IRB 7's series in Dubai this weekend.

Fiji last tasted a win in Dubai 1998, under former 7's coach Waisale Serevi as captain.

After the release of this years pool draws, Fiji's opponent in the quarter final will be either World Cup 7's champion Wales, defending IRB 7's champion South Africa or Australia.

Fiji will need to win all of their pool games against Scotland, Zimbabwe and Samoa to avoid a showdown against South Africa who are the favourites to win Pool A.

The Emosi Vucago captained side's preparation was further boosted after winning the Sri-Lanka 7's, beating South Africa Vipers in the finals by 38-12 this morning..

With the return of William Ryder, the side scored 3 tries in the first half to Niumaia Cakacaka, Ryder and Osea Kolinisau to lead 19-7.

In the second spell Fiji maintained their supremacy with 3 more tries to Cakacaka and Kolinisau grabbed a double.


In Dubai, Fiji is in Pool B with Scotland, Zimbabwe and Samoa and play their opening game against Scotland at 6.20pm on Friday.
