The Digicel Fiji 7s team’s road to start their opening IRB Sevens Series in Gold Coast with a winning note will have a lot of hurdles along the way.

Grouped in Pool A with defending IRB Sevens champion New Zealand, Kenya and Niue it is not easy for the Setefano Cakau led side.

Fiji’s last meeting with NZ was in the England 7s where they thrashed them 42-19 and the Gordon Tietjens coached side will take this opportunity to avenge the loss.

With assistant coach, Eddy Waqa in charge of the team, Fiji is likely to meet either England or Wales in the quarter final to progress further into the tournament.

Fiji’s opening pool game on Friday is at 5.25pm against Niue, Kenya at 8.31pm and New Zealand at 12.14am on Saturday.
