Applications for the Digicel Fiji 7's coaching job for the IRB 7's series closed yesterday afternoon and the Fiji Rugby Union will now short-list those who will be interviewed.

Fijivillage Sports has been reliably informed that at least 6 top coaches have shown interest to guide Fiji to the Melrose Cup defense in May and the next IRB 7's series.

The likes of 1999-2000 Fiji 7's coach Peni Veidreyaki, Australian based Acura Niuqila, Fiji Warriors coach Iliesa Tanivula, 7's wizard Waisale Serevi, 7's selectors Manasa Bari and Josateki Savou have handed in their application.

The current FRU selection criteria states that the successful coach must have an IRB level 2 coaching certificate, international 7's coaching experience and must have helped develop the game locally.

The FRU will announce the name of the coach to lead Fiji's in the 7's rugby code campaign in the next two weeks.
