The Immigration Department will now have to rethink their investigation into how two Tongan nationals, who were in the country illegally for over two years slipped through their monitoring system.

Immigration Director, Major Nemani Vuniwaqa said that complacency was the reason why the two were undetected for a long time.

The two entered the country by stowing away on a boat from Tonga back in 2007 and were only arrested following a tip off last month.

However, investigation reveals that the person who dealt with the case is no longer with the Department.
