Tonga wins 200m finals
That is the verdict from FMF Chow Games co ordinator Patrick Bower.
Concerns were raised from individuals whether like in the yesteryears when Tonga only came in to participate and if they won a race, the gold medal went to the athlete that came in second.
In this case the gold medal in the U14 200 meters finals goes to Lokini Palu of Tonga after finishing the race at 23.6 seconds and edging out favorite Simon Lilicama of Suva.
The other upset that was created this afternoon was in the U11 boy’s 200 metres finals where Lautoka’s Marika Biuvanua beat Suva’s top bet, Joe Tabakaucoro to win in a time of 28.02 seconds while Tabakaucoro came in second with a time of 28.06 seconds.
Looking at the medal tally, Suva lead in the girls division with 3 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze, second is Nasinu with 3 gold and third is Bua with 2 gold and 1 silver.
In the boys division, Suva also lead with 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze, second is Nadroga/Navosa with 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze and third is Lautoka with 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
Currently underway at the TFL National Stadium is the finals in the 75 meters.
