The Tonga A Fifteens rugby team started the Punjas Series with a convincing 27-13 win against Fiji A last night.

The Isitolo Maka coached side had to come from behind in the second half to beat Fiji in front of their home crowd.

Fiji started the game strongly with a try to Mesulame Soga which was converted by Dan Rawaqa to lead Tonga 7-6 at half-time.

Strong words from the Tongan coaching staff saw them coming into the second half with two tries and the rest to the boots of Inoke Palu to win the game 27-13.

Assistant coach Feleti Fauatusia said they are happy with the win as they came in the second half with a plan to shut Fiji out in the forwards.
