It is a positive sign that the Crusaders will get two key players back for Saturday night's match with the Kings.
Flanker Matt Todd and midfield back Ryan Crotty have both taken part in training as they work their way back from injury.
Assistant coach Dave Hewett said the duo's selection will come down to how they progress throughout the week.
Meanwhile the Highlanders have called in England Sevens player Jack Wilson as injury cover for Richard Buckman and Waisake Naholo.
The Crusaders will meet the Kings at 6.35pm Saturday while the Highlanders will face the Waratahs at 8.40pm Friday.
