Today is Remembrance Day which marks the solemn occasion and to pay tribute to the brave men and women who had given their lives in the defence of freedom.

Interim Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau while addressing the ex-servicemen who had served in the Malayan and Solomon wars and also the current soldiers today said that Fiji admires and congratulates their comrades who survived and returned home. Nailatikau also praised the youth who are today still putting their lives on the line.

Meanwhile Nailatikau said the significance of Remembrance Day is well known around the world, as it was at this time in 1918 that the First World War came to an end.

At Sukuna Park today, families of the fallen heroes came in numbers to salute their fathers, grandfathers and brothers who died in the battle fields for their country.
