With the increased number of students being booked this year for smoking in public vehicles and places, the Tobbacco Control Unit is now working with schools around the country to ensure this is not the same for this year.

The Unit said that from January to May this year 28 students have been so far booked for smoking in public services.

It said these students were caught during zone 1, Zone 2, Triple N and Majority of them were caught during the Coca-Cola Games.

According to the Unit most of the students caught are from the Central and Eastern Division schools. These students were given a 21 day period to pay a fine of $50.

Meanwhile, from the time the unit was set up in May last year, 303 people were altogether booked for smoking in public vehicles uptil December in Suva, the Western and the northern division.
