It is a timely relief for hundreds of parents who earn less than $150 a week as they are entitled to withdraw from the Fiji National Provident Fund Account under the Low Income Earners Assistance Scheme.
FNPF's Manager Corporate Affairs Wainikiti Bogidrau said they make a one-off payment of $500 for the year to those who qualify.
Bogidrau said while withdrawals under their Education Assistance scheme is only for forms Seven to Tertiary education, the funds released under the Low Income Earners Assistance Scheme can be used for education at any level.
However, Bogidrau stresses that they continue to advise those who withdraw under the Low Income Earners Assistance Scheme, the importance of saving up for their children’s education and not continuously draining their funds in the FNPF.
