It is a very sad day for Fiji to see that some employers have been able to work their way through in convincing the Interim Prime Minister to defer the new wage rate.
These are the words of Fiji Teachers Union General Secretary Agni Deo Singh who believes it was the correct time to award the poorest of the poor by implementing the new wage rate.
Singh added those living under the poverty line would still have not become richer if the new wage rate somehow would have come into effect.
Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama had earlier stated that it is not the correct time to approve the new wage rate as plenty businesses have been affected by the financial crises.
