The Soqosoqo Duavata Ni Lewenivanua (SDL) party had waited for the right time to lodge an official complaint against Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama and the Military Council for alleged treason committed by him and the Republic of Fiji Military Force on December 5th, 2006.
SDL National Director Peceli Kinivuwai said the two year timeframe for the treason charges to be dropped, expires on 5th December, 2008, and police should launch an investigation into Bainimarama and members of his Military Council.
Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni stressed that they will not allow the SDL party to use tactics to try and bring about any sort of instability in the country
Teleni said the SDL should understand that the matter is already before the courts
However, Kinivuai said the case which is before the courts is different from the one they lodged to police, and this is not an attempt to create instability in the country.
