Outgoing Acting Police Commissioner, Romanu Tikotikoca was handed his termination letter last Friday, with three weeks remaining under his contract.
Speaking to Village News, Tikotikoca said when he arrived at his office on Friday morning, there was a memo awaiting him from the Constitutional Officers Commission stating that his services were no longer required as Acting Police Commissioner and added that he will be paid for the three weeks when his term was to originally end.
Tikotikoca said he accepted the letter in good faith and relayed his good wishes to the new Police Commissioner.
When questioned by Legend FM News, Chairman of the Constitutional Officers Commission, Rishi Ram said they are only following procedures.
Ram confirms that the Home Affairs Ministry made the decision when the new Police Commissioner should start work.
The hand over ceremony will be held this hour at the Police Headquarters. Meanwhile, SSP Eroni Antonio has been appointed as Deputy Police Commissioner, whose first task is to look into the reshuffling of senior police officers.
