A spot to play in next year’s Tier 1 Coca Cola Zero Deans trophy quarterfinals is up for grabs for the winner of the Tier 2 competition this year in their respective grades.
Speaking to Fijivillage, Chief Organizer Paula Motu said this will help to motivate teams from the Northern Division and the interior of Viti Levu to lift their performance knowing that a win will see them playing schools like QVS, RKS, Lelean and Suva Grammar next year.
Motu confirmed that the High Performance Unit from the Fiji Rugby Union will also closely monitor the performance of students who will be playing in the quarterfinals
And with the Tier 2 quarterfinals starting this morning, Motu has high hopes that this will help to bridge the gap between schools from the rural areas and the prominent teams who have featured every year.
The opening game of the Tier 2 quarterfinals this morning will be in the U-15 grade where Bucalevu Secondary School from the Northern Division plays Nadroga/Navosa at the National Stadium at 8:30am.
