The Prime Minister’s office will soon provide $28,000 to be used in the upgrade of the Thurston Gardens.

This money will basically be used for the upgrading of storm water culverts at the Thurston Gardens.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Permanent Secretary PM's office Pramesh Chand and the Suva Town Clerk Ratu Ilitomasi Verenakadavu at the PM's office this morning.

The project is being implemented following a scoping exercise which determined the scope of work involved to upgrade all the underground culverts to prevent flooding during heavy rain.

The upgrading project's objective is to restore the tourist profile and beauty associated with Thurston Gardens, once known as the pride of Suva and also its close proximity to Government House.
