In trying to keep up with the changing times and enhanced technology and to deliver better services to the people, a three member team has been appointed to review the Roles and responsibilities of the Fiji Media Council.
Council Chairman Daryl Tart told Fijivillage News that there has not been a review since its establishment 12 years ago. Tart confirms that the Secretary Australian Press Council Jack Herman, Barrie Sweetman and Suliano Siwatibau have been appointed to carry out the review.
When questioned on whether the members of the Media Council would like to see more powers being given to the Council to ensure media code of ethics are maintained and they are able to set out penalties against media outlets, Tart said that is something for the Review Team to look into.
