Thousands of families now need assistance as they have been severely affected by the worst natural disaster to hit Fiji in the past week.
In Nadi alone there are many families who have suffered a lot and are lacking the basic needs to survive.
Namaka resident Riyaz Ali describes the situation in Nadi after touring the affected areas.
Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama said Nadi especially has been totally devastated, mainly in the agricultural area.
He said there have been initial surveys but not a very good one as most of the areas are still flooded and once there will be no rain and flooding, surveys will be coordinated.
Meanwhile, more than 30 people have had to share nothing more than four cans of tuna, a packet of milk and some rice since being sheltered at the 7th Day Adventist Church evacuation centre in Nawaka, Nadi for almost a week.
Jovesa Naivakadula said they have received no help from any organization apart from DISMAC and the rations given are not enough to cater for everyone.
Naivakadula is calling on authorities and organizations to go around and see what people are going through and only then will they truly understand the suffering people are going through.
