Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says this is a momentous week for Fiji.
Bainimarama said this is a week in which the leaders of the two most populous nations on earth will be visiting our shores.
He said nothing is more symbolic of our nations’s new status in the global community than for the government to have the opportunity to host both the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Bainimarama said this is an opportunity for the government not only to welcome these leaders to Fiji but to also host the leaders of our island neighbours to further strengthen our regional position and to showcase Fiji.
Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi will be in Suva tomorrow while the President of China Xi Jinping will be in Nadi on Friday.
The government and the people of Fiji will accord a full iTaukei traditional ceremony of welcome to Narendra Modi at 9.30am tomorrow at Albert Park.
