Attorney General and Minister for Communications, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum today stressed that the government no longer advertises exclusively with The Fiji Sun newspaper.

Sayed-Khaiyum made this statement after Opposition MP, Biman Prasad moved a motion that parliament agrees that the Minister for Communications through cabinet immediately review the decision of exclusivity in terms of advertising in the newspapers.

Biman Prasad says everyone must be treated equally and it is not right if Fiji Times readers are missing out on government advertisements.

Prasad called on the government to support his motion.

Sayed-Khaiyum says there was exclusive advertising with Fiji Sun in the past however this has now changed.

He also reveals that expressions of interest will be called soon for all government advertising.

Sayed-Khaiyum says Biman Prasad’s motion is factually and legally incorrect.

Prasad’s motion was defeated in parliament.
