"The Land is yours and it is the priority of my Government to see that you reap the benefits."
Those were the words of Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama in his address to the people of Bua this morning.
Commodore Bainimarama says that it is important for landowners to look at the options available in utilising their land on whether they will lease it out to tenants or develop it as a source of income.
Bainimarama adds that his Government will not want to see the repeat of the events of 2000, where politicians used the fear factor that land will be taken away from the landowners.
He also spoke on the issue of village by-laws, for villagers to submit what they think will bring about togetherness and prosperity within the communities, and not go against Government=s regulations.
Bainimarama then talked about the need for Fiji to now look at countries like China and India as our trading partners.
The PM told the people of Bua that the government will assist low income earners as they are hoping a Chinese investment in Fiji will see a set up of a new cement factory.
Bainimarama reiterated that in a way to unite the nation and eradicate racial discrimination, the word "Fijian" is to be used to refer to all the people of Fiji.
The PM is on his way to Labasa where he will officially open the Army wives netball competition.
